Nashville Family Minute…

Nina Gregory and Grandmother Arline

Many of our Nashville staff members have anecdotes to share about their families. And it is easy to see how the generations have made their marks on the Nashville family. Whether the stories come from Nina Gregory as she fondly speaks about her grandmother Arline…or one of our caregiver friends telling us stories of their own families, there is not a day that goes by without us sharing a tale or two about why our families are so important to us all.  From time to time, we will share the photos that explain without words how much we love them.

Wellness 66  - Harpeth Hills Church of Christ , Brentwood, TN

Wellness 66 - November 2011

Along with other members of the Senior Health and Wellness Community, Family Staffing Solutions, Inc. Nashville was a sponsor of Wellness 66,  a roadmap for Senior Well-Being. Spearheaded by Mr. James Vandiver,  Director of the Resource Center on Aging at Harpeth Hills Church of Christ, the yearly event centered  around Creative Ideas for the Aging to achieve healthy living standards in all areas; spiritual, mental, physical and etc.  The event included workshops in Art Therapy, Recreation Therapy and Music Therapy.  There was something of significance to learn, for all who attended and was offered at no cost.

Keynote Speaker, Linda Ragsdale, is an author/illustrator and creative activist with teaching methods that establish everyone as an artist on paper and off.  After being severely wounded during the 2008 Mumbai Attack, she started The Peace Dragon, honoring the last request of the late Naomi Scherr, the young woman sitting next to her on that fateful day in India. Family Staffing Solutions, Inc. thanks James Vandiver for his leadership at this event and his continuing support of our company.

Another tidbit of great  news for all our clients and friends. An appraisal event was held at Harpeth Hills Church of Christ. “It’s Just Stuff” sponsored by Family Staffing Solutions with the Resource Center on Aging invited all our clients and friends to join us on November 18, 2011, at the Harpeth Hills Church of Christ. Much admired for her vast knowledge of family heirlooms and antiques, Ms Connie Sue Davenport was able to utilize her expertise by evaluating the value of items presented to her. It was wonderful to find out the “old picture hanging in the attic”or “ the vase from Uncle Ben,” was more than just a family treasure. The best news of all was it was offered to the guests at no charge. As most folks know, this was a rare opportunity to meet with Ms. Davenport and watch her at her best.
